I wanted to capture the beauty of Chicago by showing buildings on the north side and in the South Loop. I corrected and restored the pictures to make them more visually appealing.

I wanted to capture the true essence of Susana Baca with the images that I chose. I also wanted it to be neatly laid out and flow.

This is the cover design that I constructed. I tried to look at the front covers of other magazines to help me. I wanted to use some color, but also keep it simple.

Photo Happy

I added captions and fit the pictures into the story the way that I felt was appropriate.

Infographic

I put a picture in the background of the photo to add color and set the tone for what the graph was going to be about. I made the words legible and I think I added some spice overall.

Restore

I retouched this photo of bisabuela to the best of my ability. I tried to make it clean and like new.

The Expression of an Emotion Through Color

In this design I chose to use bright colors to express my emotion, excitement. I used mostly circles because I believe that particular shape gives the illusion of excitement. Balloons and sunshine are circular and they both evoke positive emotions. I used lines because they remind me of someone jumping or throwing their arms up in the air. There are some shapes that resemble birds and airplanes. Children get excited over these two things. I used several colors and shapes to show this emotion.

Black and White Composition: Out of this World

In my design, I used a combination of black and white squares, triangles and circles. I created a frame positioning two triangles and some squares on the outer brim of the design. On the inner brim, there are circles of different sizes. I tried to distribute most of the weight on the outer part and make the center of the design lighter. The design is unified and I repeated some shapes multiple times.
